Lingua Franca, owned by Master Sommelier Larry Stone and leading Burgundy vigneron Dominique Lafon, is, by its very inception, world class. Their Sisters Chardonnay is no exception, melding gentle new world fruit with old world reduction and minerality. This is a scintillating wine with exceptional balance and a mouthwatering finish.

Sister's Chardonnay

Lingua Franca was co-founded by Larry Stone and Dominique Lafon in 2015, inspired by the exceptional vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills that Larry bought in 2012 and planted in 2013. Thomas Savre, who worked at some of the top domains in Burgundy, is responsible for overseeing the winemaking and farming. He is a master at capturing the character of each vineyard site with every vintage.

50% of the 2022 Sisters Chardonnay is sourced from Lynx Hill Vineyard, a neighboring vineyard site just south of us in the Eola-Amity Hills, ideally suited to grow Chardonnay. The remaining 50% is from one of our favorite high-altitude Chardonnay vineyards in South-West Salem, Maple Grove Vineyard.

Tasting
NOTES

Subtle aromatics including hints of cooking and baking spices surround yellow fruit tones and a light buttery note from a touch of oak. A little reductive, lemon and crushed pebbles. Medium bodied, fresh acidity, light creamy touch on the palate, citrus and apples with a mineral core. A wine with very good balance which leaves you wanting a little more. Its long finish is simply mouthwatering.

Food
PAIRINGS

This mouth tingling Chardonnay works very well with oily fish; mackerel with beetroot and horseradish, or perhaps Japanese amaebi prawns with a creamy sauce - the sweet prawns balancing the judicious oak notes.
