A Modern Venture with a Rich Heritage
Ma’d Moser is an innovative wine venture from Tokaj, Hungary, co-founded by Rita Takaro, a DipWSET holder and passionate advocate for Tokaj, and Lenz M. Moser, a globally renowned wine expert. Together, they aim to reintroduce Tokaj wines to the world in a contemporary and captivating way. Their shared commitment to Tokaj's rich heritage led to the establishment of Ma’d Moser in 2021, with a strong focus on crafting high-quality, distinctive wines that capture the essence of this unique region. The project was launched with two dry wines, MM5 and MM55, both of which quickly garnered international acclaim.
Expanding with Tokaj’s Iconic Aszú
Rita and Lenz saw an opportunity to expand their portfolio with Tokaj’s most iconic product: Aszú, the legendary botrytised sweet wine. Responding to this, they partnered with the esteemed winemaker Áts Károly at Grand Tokaj to select a special batch of a unique 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú from the exceptional 2013 vintage. Aged for ten years, this Aszú has reached an extraordinary level of maturity and complexity and is regarded as one of Károly's finest works to date.
Winemaking Process of 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú
The creation of Tokaji Aszú is an intricate process that requires meticulous selection of botrytized grapes. For a 6 Puttonyos Aszú, six puttonyos (small containers of about 25 kg each) of botrytized Aszú berries are manually harvested and then gently macerated in a base wine, allowing the intense sweetness and rich flavors to infuse. This mixture is then pressed, and the wine undergoes a slow fermentation process before being aged in oak barrels for several years. In the case of the 2013 vintage, this Aszú was aged for a decade, resulting in a complex, age-worthy wine that truly embodies the excellence of Tokaj’s sweet wine tradition.
A Global Celebration of Tokaj’s Legacy
Through their collaboration with Grand Tokaj, MA'D MOSER is excited to bring this unique Aszú to the global stage, celebrating Tokaj's historic winemaking legacy and showcasing it as a masterpiece of the world’s oldest sweet wine appellation.
