Clos Apalta: A Benchmark of Chilean Winemaking
Clos Apalta is a renowned vineyard located in the heart of the Apalta Valley, Chile, known for producing some of the country's most iconic wines.
The story of Clos Apalta began in 1994, when Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, great-granddaughter of the creator of Grand Marnier liqueur, embarked on a new winemaking journey in Chile. Her goal was to craft an exceptional wine and contribute to the evolution of Chilean viticulture. In a short period, she succeeded in making Clos Apalta a global icon, culminating in its 2005 vintage being named “Best Wine of the World” by Wine Spectator.
The vineyard’s unique terroir, with steep slopes and a distinctive microclimate, provides ideal conditions for optimal grape ripening. Its Bordeaux-style blend—featuring Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot—was introduced to Chile by the Marnier Lapostolle family and has since garnered international acclaim.
Today, Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle, the seventh generation of the family, leads the company with passion and vision, continuing to innovate while upholding a steadfast commitment to excellence and sustainability.
