Eva Fricke’s Lorcher Schlossberg Riesling is sourced from 75 to 80 year old vines. Spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks, it is off dry with gorgeous tension and a mineral tug. There’s fresh yellow fruit, pineapple, peaches and apricot meshed with playful acidity. Pair with braised pork cheeks and apple.

Lorcher Schlossberg Riesling

The 2023 Lorcher Schlossberg Riesling QBA originates from Lorch in the Rheingau region of Germany. The Lorcher Schlossberg vineyard is characterized by grey slate with quartzite, offering a warmer microclimate and better wind protection compared to the Seligmacher site. The grape variety is Riesling, sourced from vines 70 to 85 years old. Vinification involves 100% spontaneous fermentation, with the wine maturing for seven months on fine lees in steel tanks. Both viticulture and vinification adhere to organic and vegan certifications.

Tasting
NOTES

Prickly, slate minerality on the nose is followed by very clear, fresh yellow fruit; ripe pineapple, peaches and apricot. There’s playful acidity balancing the residual sweetness. Off dry in style with fruity notes of apple, conference pear and peach skin. Good tension and depth, the saline minerality keeps this wine feeling fresh throughout.

Food
PAIRINGS

This off dry style really works very well as an aperitif, but also with pickles and meats paired with fruit. Try with a pickled beetroot salad, or braised pork cheeks and apple.
