Champagne Jacquesson’s 2019 Cuvée is Pinot dominant, as their Chardonnay vines were devastated by frost. Modest yields meant exceptional quality. Layers of hay and floral complexity hide amongst green fruit, yellow stonefruit, quince, brioche and toast. Soft, gentle mousse, rich layers of autolysis and a nutty/oxidative element. Punchy freshness. Fantastique!

Jacquesson Cuvée N° 747

In 2019, our harvest across Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Champillon (75%), and Avize, Oiry (25%) was shaped by a mild, dry winter. Spring brought three major frost episodes, primarily affecting Chardonnay, resulting in a Pinot-dominant vintage. The dry summer, marked by heatwaves, led to some sunscald. Harvesting took place from September 12 to 22, yielding grapes of exceptional quality despite moderate volumes.

The resulting wines are structured, balanced, long, and complex. Our viticulture respects both soil and vine, highlighting the diversity of each parcel. Vinification and aging took place in large oak tuns on the lees, without filtering or fining, ensuring purity and depth.

Tasting
NOTES

A champagne that showcases perfect harmony between the three primary grapes of the region. The bouquet spectrum covers green fruit, yellow stone fruit, black fruit, ripe quince, brioche and toast; then there are layers of wild hay and a floral complexity. Precise and direct, the mousse is soft and gentle, there is a rich layer of autolysis and a slight nutty/oxidative element on the powerful, broad palate. Creamy undertones, along with a mineral pucker and a punch of freshness are truly delightful. Rich buttery, nutty, vigourous finish. Fantastique!

PAIRINGS

A very versatile and food friendly champagne. Best served with sea urchin tart, or roasted salmon fillet over malted potato purée and shaved truffle, or caramelised onion risotto.
