Château d’Esclans’ Finest Wine
Garrus is the crowning jewel of Château d’Esclans, made from nearly 100-year-old vines in a single vineyard. This iconic rosé was at the core of Sacha Lichine’s vision in 2006 to elevate rosé to a grand and luxurious level. Today, Garrus stands as a world-class, luxury rosé, embodying both power and elegance.
Sourced from Château d’Esclans Estate Vineyards
Like all wines from Château d’Esclans, Garrus is crafted exclusively from grapes sourced from the estate's vineyards. A high proportion of the fruit comes from a single parcel of nearly 100-year-old Grenache vines, showcasing the vineyard’s exceptional age and quality. Grapes are harvested early in the morning to preserve freshness, and upon arrival in the cellar, they are meticulously sorted for both health and quality through Optical Eye Sorting, ensuring the highest selection standards.
Winemaking Process Focused on Purity and Complexity
The winemaking begins with soft crushing of the grapes, followed by temperature reduction to 7-8°C, locking in the wine's natural vivacity and freshness. Closed Circuit Pressing is employed to minimize oxidation and preserve the purity of the juice, which is then fermented and aged exclusively in 600-liter temperature-controlled oak barrels (Demi-Muids).
Aging and Batonnage for Elegance
During an eleven-month aging period, batonnage (the stirring of the lees) is performed twice a week, enriching the wine’s texture and complexity. This method imparts a rich, creamy mouthfeel, which, combined with the wine's exceptional fruit, creates a rosé of unmatched elegance and depth.
Garrus exemplifies the pinnacle of rosé winemaking, with its refined structure, luxurious texture, and timeless appeal, setting the standard for world-class rosé.
