Bouza: A Family’s Passion for Wine and Terroir
Bouza is a family-run winery, deeply rooted in a love for the land and its fruits. Guided by the belief that small-scale production leads to superior quality, we meticulously oversee every step of the winemaking process—from vineyard to glass. Using only estate-grown grapes, we produce between 180,000 and 200,000 bottles per year, focusing on high-quality wines that authentically reflect our terroir and each unique vintage.
Tannat: The Soul of Bouza’s Winemaking
Tannat, a variety native to the Pyrenees, thrives in Uruguay and has become our country's flagship grape. Known for its vibrant color, firm tannins, and lively acidity, Tannat yields powerful, structured red wines with excellent aging potential.
As the most widely planted variety in our vineyards, Tannat is at the heart of Bouza’s identity. We cultivate it across our five distinct vineyards, allowing us to showcase the unique characteristics of each terroir. This diversity results in wines with rich complexity and a true sense of place, offering an exciting exploration of Uruguay’s finest expression of Tannat.
