A Harmonious Blend of Freshness and Depth
Château d’Esclans, the estate wine made from Grenache and Rolle (Vermentino), combines diverse winemaking techniques to create a unique rosé. Through a blend of stainless steel and barrel fermentation, this wine strikes the perfect balance between freshness and complexity. The result is a full-style rosé with a smooth, creamy texture that is rich and long on the palate, embodying the craftsmanship of Château d’Esclans.
Sourcing Grapes from Estate Vineyards
Château d’Esclans is made from grapes exclusively sourced from the vineyards of Château d’Esclans. The grapes are harvested in the early morning to avoid the heat of the day and preserve freshness. Upon arrival at the cellars, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting using Optical Eye Sorting to ensure only the healthiest and highest-quality grapes are selected.
Winemaking Process for Purity and Freshness
The winemaking process begins with soft crushing, followed by a temperature reduction from approximately 20°C to 7-8°C to lock in freshness and preserve the natural vivacity of the fruit. Closed Circuit Pressing is employed to minimise oxidation and extract the free run juice.
Fermentation in Oak Barrels and Stainless Steel
The wine is vinified using a blend of 600-liter temperature-controlled oak barrels (Demi-Muids) and stainless steel fermentation tanks. Over an eight-month period, the wine undergoes batonnage (stirring of the lees) twice a week, enriching its texture and enhancing complexity before being bottled.
This careful, thoughtful winemaking process results in a rosé that embodies both freshness and depth, a true reflection of the estate’s commitment to quality.
