A wine that encapsulates the essence and terroir of our winery.
First produced in 2018, this wine comes from A-grade vines imported from France, known for their low yield and high concentration, ensuring exceptional intensity and complexity in each bottle.
Our Tannat 2022 originates from a limited 1-hectare plot, yielding around 1,300 bottles annually, reflecting a commitment to quality over quantity. Initially, the wine was aged for five months in stainless steel tanks, a deliberate choice to preserve the purity and fruit-forward profile. Subsequently, in a quest to enhance its structure and depth without compromising its fruity character, the wine was transferred to first-use, untoasted French oak barrels. There, it matured for an additional 14 months, subtly integrating the oak's influence with the natural power of the Tannat.
Tannat 2022 serves as a memorable testament to the distinctive character of our winery.
Bottled in October 2023, our Tannat 2022 now presents a balanced and sophisticated expression, ideal for those who appreciate full-bodied wines yet respect the original varietal expression. We invite each of you to discover and enjoy the complexity and elegance of this exceptional wine, which not only speaks of its origin but also of our enological philosophy.
The vineyard
The vineyard has a north-south orientation, with north-facing vineyards being the sunniest aspect in the Southern Hemisphere. The soil has been extensively analyzed by international geologists, revealing that the vineyard is on rocks from the Zanja del Tigre Formation, belonging to the Lavalleja Group, with an approximate age of 750 million years. This formation consists of a sedimentary sequence of limestones and sandstones that, over time, have undergone metamorphic alterations, resulting in the marbles, quartzites, and micaceous schists found on the surface.
