Sourced from three different DOCGs within Campania, this Aglianico from Tenuta Cavalier Pepe has an appealing smokiness and savoury aspect. There are hearty notes of salami, wild berries, cigar and leather. Fruity palate offers blackberry, cherries, firm tannins and an oaky structure. A red to enjoy with dark chocolate cake.

The Loggia del Cavaliere

The Loggia del Cavaliere is a wine with a strong personality and complex structure. This Reserve is a clear corporate expression of pure Aglianico, as a result of the vinification of pure Aglianico grapes from the vineyards of the best localities of the D.O.C.G. appellation: Carazita, Pesano, and Brussineta.

Aglianico is known for its exceptional oenological prerogatives, belongs to the very limited group of vines suitable to give wines of superior quality, and has found in the green hills of Irpinia the best territory to express itself.

The climatic characteristics of the Irpinia hills, characterised by high altitudes and strong temperature ranges, allow Aglianico a long and pleasant maturation.

Tasting
NOTES

There is a really appealing smokiness and savoury aspect to this wine; hearty notes of salami, wild berries, cigar spice and leather. In the glass the wine is riper and more fruity than the nose implies with blackberry, black cherry and plums dominating the palate. Full body with firm tannins, modern oaky structure, high acidity and a warm, long finish showing herbs and mint. Very enjoyable with good potential to age.

PAIRINGS

Serve this wine with a fillet of venison, red wine jus, girolles and kale to complement the herbal notes, or roast duck breast and caramelised beets. For the sweeter tooth, pair with dark chocolate cake.
