The 2021 Yu-ki Estate Pinot Noir comes from a unique vineyard situated above the town of Occidental, just five miles from the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 1,000 feet. This estate's proximity to the ocean allows for the cool coastal influence that creates ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir.
Vineyard and Harvest Details
In 2021, the estate produced 79 barrels from Yu-ki, and from these, 21 barrels were selected to make this exceptional Pinot Noir blend. The harvest yielded a little over 2.3 tons per acre, a typical yield for this vineyard as it continues to mature and express its full potential.
Pinot Noir Clones
The 2021 blend showcases a diverse range of Pinot Noir clones, all of which are represented in the final wine. These include:Calera, Mt. Eden, 2A Wadenswil, 23 Mariafeld, 114, 667, 828.
This diversity in clones contributes complexity and depth to the wine, with each clone bringing its own unique characteristics to the blend.
