Clos Apalta: A Vineyard in the Heart of Apalta Valley
Clos Apalta is a vineyard located in the heart of the Apalta Valley in Chile. It is known for producing some of the country's most emblematic wines.
The story of Clos Apalta begins in 1994, when Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, great-granddaughter of the creator of the famous Grand Marnier liqueur, decided to embark on a new winemaking adventure in Chile. Her goal was to produce an exceptional wine and contribute to the qualitative development of Chilean wines. In a short period of time, she succeeded in making Clos Apalta an iconic wine and with its 2005 vintage she was awarded ‘Best Wine of the World’ by Wine Spectator.
The vineyard stands out for its unique terroir, with steep slopes and a microclimate that favours the perfect ripening of the grapes. The Bordeaux-style varietal blend, brought to Chile by the family, includes Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot and has been acclaimed worldwide.
Today, Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle, seventh generation and passionate about the history of the vineyard and wine, leads the company and continues to innovate while maintaining a commitment to excellence and sustainability.
