Los Nobles: A Tribute to Mendoza's Terroir
Los Nobles wines pays homage to the elegance of the vines which successfully give rise to fruits which are the frank and pure expression of the terroir of Mendoza, thanks to the experience and knowledge acquired by the Arizu family over four generations.
Vineyard and Grape Selection
These high altitude grapes (growing at 1,026m) are from selected parcels from Finca Los Nobles which is located in Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. The average age of the vines is 30 years old. The majority of the blend is Malbec (94%) which is harvested together with Petit Verdot (6%).
Harvesting and Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked early in the morning in boxes ranging from 18 to 20 kilograms. Whole clusters, de-stemming, and berry selection techniques are all utilized. The must is cold macerated for 3 to 5 days at a temperature between 10°C–12°C. Then it is fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel tanks of 6,000l capacity with delestage and pump-overs.
Aging Process
Once fermentation is finished, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation occurs, for 12 months.
Finishing Touches
Once the aging process is finished, the wine is stabilized, filtered, and bottled.
