Napa may be famed for its voluptuous, show-stopping reds, but overlook its whites at your peril. This Blanc Fumé, with just 2% Sémillon, displays lime, orange, orange peel and light grassy note. Perfectly in balance with juicy acidity this would pair beautifully with grilled mackerel with fresh and pickled tomatoes.

To Kalon Vineyard: Prime Benchland Terroir

The To Kalon Vineyard is situated on prime benchland soils in west Oakville. The well-drained, alluvial fan soils combine with ideal sun exposure to yield rich, complex flavours and flawless fruit maturity. The Sauvignon Blanc was sourced exclusively from the Monastery Block; the Sémillon from P South, a block of To Kalon, south of Oakville Grade Road. (100% To Kalon Vineyard).

2019 Vintage: Winemaker's Dream

The 2019 vintage could be called a winemaker’s dream. A long summer brought smooth, even ripening. The season allowed an unusual luxury - to harvest each and every block at its ideal point of ripeness. It is a harvest to remember. The beautiful fruit for the I Block Fumé Blanc was hand-harvested between 2nd–9th September before ageing on lees for eight months in French oak barrels (41% first use).

Tasting
NOTES

Citrusy nose displaying lime, orange, orange peel, light grassy note is very subtle and pleasantly accompanies the Sémillon aromatics. Very well balanced.
The palate has good acidity, nice freshness. Slightly drier than nose suggests, good balance between body and freshness, the Sémillon gives balance and roundness in the mouth.

This Bordeaux style blend would suit tomato salad with buffalo mozzarella and aromatic olive oil, or grilled mackerel with fresh and pickled tomatoes.
