The Legacy of Jordan Winery
Jordan Winery is proud to be owned and operated by John Jordan, whose parents founded the winery nestled in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County in 1972.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of its ethos. Preserving natural habitat and conserving resources are two tenets in their sustainability efforts. The winery runs almost entirely on solar energy and the vineyards and winery are certified sustainable.
Fostering Biodiversity
Farming the vineyards sustainably goes far beyond sowing cover crops, protecting watersheds and following other certification guidelines. At Jordan Winery they believe that grapevines grow best when they’re surrounded by woodlands and reservoirs filled with birds - not a monoculture of vineyard after vineyard.
The Importance of Natural Habitat
By maintaining large swaths of natural habitat around and between the 18 different estate vineyard blocks, they encourage beneficial insects and other natural predators which decreases the threat of harmful pests in the vineyards and the gardens. This biodiversity of the estate ecosystem must be respected and nurtured year-round, which is why just 50ha of grapevines are sparsely planted across the rolling hills of the 485ha Jordan Estate, more than three-quarters of which has been left wild.
Crafting Exceptional Chardonnays
One of the most balanced Jordan Chardonnays to date. This crisp, elegant style of Jordan Chardonnay wouldn’t be possible without the small collection of cool-climate vineyards in different pockets of the Russian River Valley. The fog and cooler temperatures found in this wine growing region allow the grapes to achieve optimal and uniform ripeness at lower sugar levels with bright acidity. Mirroring the classic elements of a grand cru Chablis, this is a rare expression of Chardonnay that shyly but exquisitely excites the senses. Flavors of juicy citrus, Asian pear and lemon peel balance seamlessly with the subtle French oak notes. The cooler-climate vineyard sourcing this year brings even more lively acidity and purity of fruit on the palate, making this vintage especially food-friendly and cellar-worthy.
