Barolo Bricco Rocche

Barolo, a UNESCO world heritage site and home of fine wine. This example from Castiglione comes from an historic, monopole vineyard; a single parcel comprising just over 1ha. Wonderful, cohesive Nebbiolo; dried, crushed violets, sour cherry, earthy minerality and green tobacco. Its grippy tannins and refined acidity plead for duck.

The Prestigious Bricco Rocche Vineyard

The Bricco Rocche vineyard in Castiglione is the smallest geographic area within Barolo and comprises just over 1 hectare. It is the most prestigious part of what was once called La Serra and is nestled between the single vineyards of Villero and Rocche (rock face) - between them these represent the best of the higher elevated sites. Bricco Rocche can be considered a monopole as the whole parcel is the exclusive property of the Ceretto family.

Tasting
NOTES

An enticing nose offering a well balanced array of baked clay, earthy minerality, dried, crushed violets, sour cherry, cherry pips and green tobacco. There’s a lovely cohesiveness between nose and palate. Medium bodied and still very young with very refined, grippy tannins. Shows great potential, finishes with a slightly bitter spiciness.

Food
PAIRINGS

This is a wine that will accompany strong flavours very well; duck stew with japanese stock (dashi) carrot, daikon and turnip. Alternatively, it would work well with a rich beef casserole or creamy pasta dishes with game.
