A Bordeaux blend from a family run winery in Alexander Valley, USA. Wild berries, cassis, graphite and tobacco tickle the nose and whet the appetite. Sweet tannins softened by French oak would pair beautifully with the rich earthiness of loin of venison with cherry compote and beetroot purée.

European-Inspired Winemaking Philosophy

Jordan wines are made in a European style that allows them to pair well with a broad range of foods. The winemaking emphasizes the wine’s fruit and acidity rather than its alcohol and tannin. Acidity plays two roles central to food pairing: cleansing of the palate and providing balance. Achieving elegance and balance in the bottle drives all that they do in their vineyards and cellars.

This 2019 vintage hits all the right notes. The palate is inviting and well-balanced, exuding flavours of blueberries, cassis and blackberry, making this a vintage that will age for years to come. A fitting release to commemorate Maggie Kruse’s first vintage as head winemaker.

Tasting
NOTES

Attractive deep red/ruby colour. Initially the wine reveals ripeness of fruits including wild berries and cassis, A second nose reveals graphite and tobacco notes. Tannins are sweet and elegant but the finish is a touch modest.

Food
PAIRINGS

This would work well with grilled red meat with nuts and corn purée. Alternatively, loin of venison with cherry compote and beetroot purée and a venison sauce.
