Exploring Asili Cru
Asili cru is surely one of the most famous and representative climats of the appellation and is synonymous with the town of Barbaresco, with its amazing finesse and power, and disarming elegance and longevity. The vineyards start at 290m above sea level and drop down 90m to the bottom of the hill. The land is marked by the presence of St. Agata fossil marne and is south-south west facing. Ceretto owns just over one hectare at the top (bricco) of the hill. Due to its specific undulations this plot could be considered a clos or stand-alone vineyard - and indeed, the grapes from this plot have been vinified separately as a single parcel since the early 1970s.
