Viña Lanciano Reserva: Crafting Tradition and Excellence
A fine Rioja Reserva from an unrivaled vineyard and a selection of Tempranillo (90%), Graciano (8%), and Mazuelo (2%) from the Viña Lanciano vineyard. Viña Lanciano is the basis for the winery's original philosophy. Its name reflects the essence of a unique enclave embraced by the river. A magical location, where the vestiges of ancient history lie, such as the remains of the Roman Mantible bridge, which features on its label. Viña Lanciano has encapsulated the estate’s philosophy and expertise from the outset.
Vineyard Excellence
Grapes for the 2019 vintage came from bush vines of 35–45 years of age, which were harvested exclusively by hand, with a rigorous double selection process; first by bunch, then by berry.
Traditional Winemaking Techniques
Traditional winemaking techniques employed: 100% de-stemming, the Tempranillo underwent a pre-ferment cold maceration for 3 days at 6ºC. Separate alcoholic fermentation for each of the varieties at a controlled temperature between 24–26ºC. Post-fermentation maceration for 7 days was carried out before the wines were transferred to French oak barrels (50% new and 50% second fill) where malolactic fermentation took place.
