Luz dEluna Tannat

Tannat has found a natural affinity with the Uruguayan climate. This one from the limestone soils of Colonia displays dark fruit, notes of purple flowers and oak spices. The high tannin levels are softened with 19 months in French oak barrels. Enjoy with rustic sausages, green lentils, bacon and shallots.

Winery's Iconic Wine: Luz de Luna

Luz de Luna is the winery's iconic wine. The edition began in 2011, and the objective was to capture unique and unrepeatable characteristics that are achieved in particular years and show the highest expression of their terroir.

Exceptional Terroir Expression

Made from 100% Tannat, the grapes are sourced from five plots in Carmel (Colonia), with concentration and balance at the heart of each selection. For post-maceration, winemaker Valeria Chiola settles the wines in French oak foudres to balance out the tannins.

Crafting Complexity in French Barrels

Further structure and complexity are achieved through 19 months in French barrels - virgin and medium toasted. After 27 months in the bottle, it is ready to be enjoyed, although it is important to keep in mind its aging potential, which ranges between the next 10 and 15 years.

Tasting
NOTES

Generous, ripe blue and black fruit on the nose; blueberries, blackcurrants, blackberries. Also notes of purple flowers, a balsamic sweetness and oak spices.
Lovely attack to the palate, full body, medium plus tannin, balanced acidity with the fruit staying on the blue side, especially blackberries.

Food
PAIRINGS

The blue fruit spectrum and soft but plentiful tannins would pair best with stewed lamb or kid accompanied by boiled vegetables. This could also be enjoyed with rustic sausages, green lentils, bacon and shallots.
