Château d’Esclans: Rosé of Unparalleled Concentration
It is safe to say that Château d’Esclans is the only rosé producer to be able to achieve a pink wine with such concentration as Les Clans. In a blind tasting many sommeliers and wine experts would guess it is a white Burgundy like Meursault or Chassagne-Montrachet. Approachable when young, yet a rosé which can be aged.
Vineyard-to-Cellar Excellence
Les Clans is the epitome of a sophisticated, food-orientated wine and is made from grapes exclusively from the vineyards of Château d’Esclans. Harvesting is conducted in the early morning to avoid the heat of the day and to keep the crop fresh. Upon arriving in the cellar, the grapes are sorted for both health and quality via an optical eye sorting machine, ensuring that they are selected and assessed accurately in terms of overall quality.
Winemaking Precision
Light, gentle crushing is followed by temperature reduction from approximately 20ºC down to 7–8ºC to lock in freshness and vivacity. Closed circuit pressing ensures minimal oxidation in the free run juice which is vinified exclusively in 600l temperature controlled oak barrels (demi muids) during which bâttonage is conducted twice weekly over an eleven month period prior to bottling.
