Clos Apalta

A wine to make you dream…blackcurrant, bramble, plum and violets. Herbaceous tones, blackcurrant leaf and chocolate, toast, cloves and vanilla from French oak. Complex and concentrated this rich wine needs beef or venison tartare, not too spicy, finely cut, with a little chilli, capers and a touch of soy sauce.

Grand Marnier: A Legacy of Excellence

In 1880, Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle conceived a beverage by blending cognac with a rare, luxurious variety of orange bitters. Upon tasting it, renowned hotelier César Ritz christened it Grand Marnier, declaring it a fitting moniker for an exceptional liqueur. Since then, its popularity has endured, securing Grand Marnier's position as the most widely exported French liqueur.

Clos Apalta: Crafting Iconic Wines

A century later, in 1994, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, the creator's great-granddaughter, embarked on a new venture in Chile. Committed to upholding the family's exacting standards, her aim was to craft an extraordinary wine in the hope of elevating the quality of the country's wines. Within a short time frame, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle transformed Clos Apalta into an iconic wine, meticulously shaping the vineyard inch by inch. Today, Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle, equally impassioned about wine, leads the company. Since 2013, he has steered the ship, bringing fresh perspectives and a renewed vigour. He is joined by Jacques Begarie, technical director, and renowned consultant Michel Rolland, who is deeply involved in every facet of Clos Apalta's production.
