Distinct Terroir and Climatic Influence
From the Craggy Range stable, Te Muna Road Sauvignon Blanc is grown in the limestone-infused stony soils of Te Muna Road vineyard's lower terrace in Martinborough on the southern tip of North Island. 2023 vintage was strongly influenced by La Niña. It began warm and early with only one substantial frost. Above average rainfall post-Christmas, but ultimately the season cooled to match the long-term average. A small portion (8%) of the grapes were whole bunch pressed, with fermentation taking place with a mixture of materials including; stainless steel, French oak cubes and French oak barriques. The wine shows a unique level of texture and complexity. The cooler climate of Martinborough ensures the wine is aromatic with steely minerality while the rocky soils give intensity to the fruit. Precision and purity are hallmarks of the 2023 release.
